As human impacts continuously threaten the health of our marine ecosystems\, both locally and globally\, it is imperative that we involve youth in a campaign to solve these problems. \nThe Youth Ocean Conservation Summit\, launched in 2011 and held annually at Mote Marine Laboratory in Sarasota\, Florida\, as well as satellite locations around the world\, provides youth participants the opportunity to learn from marine scientists and conservationists about current threats facing marine ecosystems\, both locally and globally. \nThrough the event\, participants are also inspired by their peers — youth leaders who are taking immediate action leading projects to protect the ocean. Attendees then collaborate with peers and mentors to develop action plans for their own ocean conservation projects. Workshops offered at the summit allow participants to gain the skills necessary to successfully implement conservation projects\, teach participants about career opportunities in marine conservation\, and expose them to opportunities they can take part in to help protect our planet’s oceans and their inhabitants. \nFor more information: www.yocs.org \n\nCost: $30 (includes all summit sessions\, lunch & a YOCS 2025 shirt) – admission to SEA is not included\, but can be purchased at a discounted rate during registration.\n\nNote: Groups of students attending together may be accompanied by an adult mentor\, but adults may not attend on their own. \nWorkshop Tracks \n\nAs Above\, So Below: Coastal and Benthic Environments\nBlueprints of the Blue: Ocean Tech & Life Support\nPathways & Portraits: Youth Leadership & Biological Illustration\n\nCancellation policy: Cancellations made before October 31st will be refunded in full. Due to the extensive time\, facility coordination efforts\, and planning involved\, no refunds will be issued for cancellations made after October 31st.  URL:https://mote.org/event/2025-youth-ocean-conservation-summit/ LOCATION:Mote Science Education Aquarium\, 225 University Town center Dr.\, Sarasota\, 34243\, United States CATEGORIES:At the Aquarium,Education ATTACH;FMTTYPE=image/jpeg:https://mote.org/wp-content/uploads/2024/03/2011-youth-ocean-conservation-summit-120_1_orig.jpg GEO:27.3809917;-82.4542251 X-APPLE-STRUCTURED-LOCATION;VALUE=URI;X-ADDRESS=Mote Science Education Aquarium 225 University Town center Dr. Sarasota 34243 United States;X-APPLE-RADIUS=500;X-TITLE=225 University Town center Dr.:geo:-82.4542251,27.3809917 END:VEVENT BEGIN:VEVENT DTSTART;TZID=America/New_York:20251122T093000 DTEND;TZID=America/New_York:20251122T103000 DTSTAMP:20260111T115327 CREATED:20251011T140458Z LAST-MODIFIED:20251011T140458Z UID:10001178-1763803800-1763807400@mote.org SUMMARY:Shark Pups & Grown Ups DESCRIPTION:Polyp Protectors\nShark Pups & Grownups is an early childhood STEM program for kids ages 2 through 5 and their favorite adult.
